What the Change of Seasons Taught Me About Retirement

As I sit at our seasonal campsite in September, I can feel the subtle shifts around me. The mornings are cooler, the leaves are hinting at change, and there’s a rhythm to life as kids head back to school and summer winds down.
It reminds me of how retirement works. We don’t wake up one day and suddenly everything changes. It’s a transition, like the seasons — gradual, natural, and filled with its own beauty. But just as I grab a sweater before heading out on the deck, retirement asks us to prepare for what’s coming next.

Retirement isn’t a sudden event; it’s a season of life that requires awareness, preparation, and intention.
Reflection Question: As you begin to think about retirement as your next season, how can you prepare for it with clarity and purpose?
