Lessons from a Yard Sale: Letting Go to Make Space for What’s Next

I recently helped my daughter with her community yard sale. As we sorted through boxes, I couldn’t help but smile at the mix of things — treasures to some, clutter to others.
I realized that retirement is a lot like that yard sale. It’s about letting go. Sometimes it’s letting go of possessions, sometimes of routines, and sometimes of roles we’ve carried for years. And while it can feel bittersweet, letting go creates space for what’s next.

Retirement isn’t just about loss; it’s about making intentional space for the life you want to create in this next chapter.
Reflection Question: What’s one thing you need to let go of to make room for what’s next in your retirement journey?
